Thank you for your interest in joining Beit Kaplan!
Beit Kaplan is open to all qualified rabbis (graduates of accredited rabbinical schools) and rabbinical students who subscribe to Beit Kaplan’s principles. [If you are not a rabbi or rabbinical student, please join our parallel lay group.]
We see ourselves as a forum for the cultivation of a flourishing, dynamic Jewish civilization. With strong ties to Reconstructionist Judaism, we advocate Ahavat Yisrael – love for the diverse, creative Jewish people and for its ancestral homeland – and the centrality of Jewish peoplehood.
We embrace the stream of thought, guidance, and practice of our ancestors, the teachings of Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan and other modern thinkers, and disciplined engagement with our contemporaries.
We unequivocally support the right of Israel to exist, and to exist as a Jewish state.
Please submit your affirmation of these principles to the membership committee and evidence of your rabbinical training. Private and non-traditional ordination will be considered on a case to case basis.
Thank you!
