September 2, 2024: Beit Kaplan Mourns the Murder of Israeli Hostages

פַּלְגֵי־מַ֙יִם֙ תֵּרַ֣ד עֵינִ֔י עַל־שֶׁ֖בֶר בַּת־עַמִּֽי

My eyes shed rivers of tears at the devastation of my people

- Lamentations 3:49

Together with our sisters and brothers in Israel, we are stricken with grief at the murder of the six hostages, Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi, and Ori Danino by Hamas terrorists after eleven months in the tunnels of Gaza.

We pray for the safe return of all remaining hostages to their loved ones bim'heirah v'yameinu - swiftly in our days.

שָׁלוֹם שָׁלוֹם לָרָחוֹק וְלַקָּרוֹב

Peace to those close by and those who are distant

- Isaiah 57:19

Beit Kaplan is a forum for the cultivation of a flourishing, dynamic Jewish civilization, and a Reconstructionist Judaism that centers around Ahavat Yisrael and Jewish peoplehood.
